The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ebola response is continuing across six provinces and 61 health zones, with no new health zone reporting an affected area in the past 24 hours, according to the latest situation update.
South Kivu has now gone 98 days without recording a new confirmed Ebola case, offering an encouraging sign as health authorities continue efforts to contain the outbreak.
A total of 6,757 cases have been confirmed so far, including 1,590 recoveries and 3,267 deaths. A further 813 patients are currently in isolation or receiving treatment in hospital.
The overall case fatality rate stands at 48.3%, while contact tracing has reached 88.3%, remaining above the operational target of 85%.
In the latest 24 hour period, 27 additional patients were declared recovered, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 1,590.
Health authorities and response teams are continuing to strengthen surveillance, case management and community engagement in affected areas to identify infections quickly and interrupt chains of transmission.
The response currently covers the six affected provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut Uele, Bas Uele and Tshopo.
Authorities say sustained surveillance and coordinated community action remain central to containing the outbreak and preventing the spread of Ebola to new areas.
