Uganda has highlighted opportunities for deeper economic cooperation with Nigeria as business leaders and delegates gathered for the Uganda-Nigeria Business Forum and Exhibition.

Ambassador Richard Kabonero, Head of Regional Economic Cooperation and ECD, officially welcomed participants to the forum and thanked delegates and the team at Uganda High Commission (UHC) in Abuja for convening the event.

Kabonero said the forum was aligned with the ECD’s strategy to support Uganda’s 10-Fold Growth Strategy and promote mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.

He highlighted Uganda’s growing capabilities in research, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing as areas with significant potential for increased cooperation with Nigeria.

Among the sectors highlighted was Uganda’s pharmaceutical industry, including the development of medicines for sickle cell disease, which Kabonero identified as an area where the country could build stronger partnerships and expand its presence in regional and international markets.

He also pointed to Nigeria’s globally recognised creative industry as another area offering significant opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.

The forum brought together business leaders, delegates and visitors to explore opportunities for trade, investment and partnerships across various sectors.

Kabonero expressed appreciation to all participants for contributing to the success of the event and encouraged delegates to use the forum to develop practical and mutually beneficial business partnerships.

He wished participants fruitful deliberations as Uganda and Nigeria seek to strengthen their economic and commercial ties.
