India and Morocco discuss expanding economic ties across multiple sectors…reports Africa Daily News Desk
India and Morocco have agreed to expand market access, diversify bilateral trade and encourage greater investment as the two countries concluded the seventh session of their Joint Commission Meeting.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada, who co-chaired the meeting with Morocco’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira, said the discussions focused on concrete measures to deepen economic and commercial ties.
“Successfully concluded the 7th India-Morocco Joint Commission Meeting with the signing of the agreed minutes alongside Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira,” Prasada said in a post on X.
He described the meeting as an important step in strengthening bilateral ties, with discussions centred on expanding market access, diversifying the trade basket and boosting investments.



Prasada also highlighted opportunities for deeper cooperation in key sectors, including fertilisers, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals.
The meeting reviewed existing areas of economic and commercial cooperation and explored measures to further broaden bilateral engagement. Discussions covered trade and market access, fertiliser production and supply, investment, industrial cooperation, customs, agriculture and food safety, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
The two sides also discussed energy and mining, renewable energy, digital transformation, transport and logistics, AYUSH, tourism, education and skills.
Prasada, who also holds the portfolio of Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, is on an official visit to Morocco from August 24-25.
India and Morocco have longstanding bilateral ties, with considerable scope for expanding trade and investment. Bilateral merchandise trade between the two countries stood at around $4 billion in 2025.
