Kenya is stepping up efforts to expand its digital infrastructure and strengthen its digital economy through deeper cooperation with global technology and infrastructure companies.
On the sidelines of the AmCham Business Summit in Nairobi, discussions were held with Google’s Managing Director for Africa, Alex Okosi, on accelerating the expansion of Kenya’s digital infrastructure and strengthening the wider digital ecosystem.
The talks focused on scaling up digital trade and innovation while creating greater opportunities for young people.

Kenyan officials also met Deean Fontaine, Senior Director for Public Affairs and Regulatory in Africa at American Tower Corporation, to discuss plans to expand digital connectivity and infrastructure supporting the country’s growing digital economy.
American Tower Corporation operates 4,542 towers across Kenya and was described as an important partner in efforts to develop the infrastructure needed to facilitate trade, connect communities and expand economic opportunities.



The engagements form part of Kenya’s broader efforts to work with global technology and infrastructure partners to strengthen connectivity and build a more competitive digital economy.
The government said it would continue collaborating with international partners to position Kenya as a leading digital economy in Africa, with digital infrastructure seen as key to expanding trade, innovation and opportunities for young people.
