Houthis Ready to Enter Battlefield for Iran: Report

26 March 2026

Such a move would aim to intensify pressure on adversaries, with both Iran and Ansarullah seen as capable of posing a credible threat in the waterway, Newsdesk reports

Yemen’s Ansarullah, also known as the Houthi movement, is reportedly preparing to enter the conflict in support of Iran amid ongoing US and Israeli strikes, signalling a potential widening of tensions in West Asia.

The group has remained on high alert since the conflict began on February 28 and is ready to join the battlefield if required, according to a report.

It could seek to exert pressure by targeting the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a key global shipping route, as part of a broader response against the United States and Israel.

Such a move would aim to intensify pressure on adversaries, with both Iran and Ansarullah seen as capable of posing a credible threat in the waterway.

The group has previously demonstrated its ability to disrupt maritime routes in the Red Sea, including efforts to restrict passage through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Following the October 7, 2023 escalation and Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, the Houthis launched measures targeting Israeli linked shipping, including a naval blockade that forced vessels to reroute around southern Africa, raising costs and delays.

In addition to maritime operations, the group has carried out aerial strikes on Israeli targets and repeatedly targeted US naval assets near Yemen’s coastline.

The developments were reported by Tasnim News Agency, citing informed sources.

Separately, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would continue its policy of “resistance” in response to what he described as unprovoked US and Israeli aggression, ruling out negotiations or a ceasefire without credible guarantees.

In a televised interview cited by Press TV, Araghchi said no negotiations were currently underway and questioned the reliability of external assurances.
