Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has underscored growing strategic cooperation with Norway’s Scatec, highlighting its role in boosting economic ties and accelerating investment between the two countries.

The remarks came during a meeting with Scatec CEO Terry Belskog, held as part of efforts to deepen Egypt Norway collaboration across key sectors, particularly renewable energy.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in clean energy, describing it as a core national priority aligned with Egypt’s long term development strategy.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering the private sector, attracting foreign direct investment and supporting international companies operating in Egypt.

The minister welcomed Scatec’s plans to scale up its presence in the country, including establishing a wind turbine manufacturing facility and developing a solar powered desalination plant, moves aimed at localising advanced industries.

He noted that the expansion aligns with directives from Abdel Fattah El Sisi to broaden the company’s activities and strengthen Egypt’s industrial base.

Abdelatty also praised Scatec’s efforts to build partnerships for major projects, pointing to Egypt’s strong investment climate, natural resources and skilled workforce as key advantages.

He highlighted ongoing government initiatives to support the green economy and position Egypt as a global hub for green hydrogen production.

The minister assured full government backing for Scatec’s projects, signalling Cairo’s continued push to attract sustainable investment and lead the region’s clean energy transition.
